The Outcome of Sweatshops

Back in time, since not a lot was being done to help these workers to better their work condition work unions were formed. a Union is an organization of employees to join together to better their working environment. Workers join unions to protect themselves from any abuse that their employers might want to demanstrate on them.

Groups Against Sweatshops

Not a lot is being done to stop the use of sweatshops in the United States. But there are groups that want to contribute as little as possible to stop the corruption. Such groups as United Students Against Sweatshops', Worker Rights Consortium, and the The National Labor Committee are all against sweatshops. They work to find out where sweatshops are still being runned and try their best to stop them.

Working Conditions

The working conditions that these people work in are harsh and i believe oneone, including themselves, should ever have to go through. these people are stuck in a filthy, dangerous and crowded work space. If working 15 hours a day was not bad enough , these people have to work mostly around big and heavy machinery for housrs nonstop and this is definitely a potential danger to them and others around. You never know when a finger can get cut off with these machines on and never know if someone bumps into another person while trying to get by and can end up falling on the fall or bumping into another person that can injure that person, themselves or maybe even each other.

Hours and wages.

People that are in need of jobs are willing to take any job that would come their way. But THEY ARE human beings and would like to be treated with dignity and respect as well. The opportunity of a job in a sweat shop is great but when you look at the pay, you just think is it really worth it? there is no future with the money being provide to them. a worker in El Salvador makes $0.24 for every NBA jersey she/he make and then when they are shipped to the U.S. to sell, they are sold aound $140 a jersey. These companies also try to keep the wages low as well so that more money can fall in their pockets and to keep their investors. Most of these workers pull 12-15 hours a day just to make enough to get the family something to eat.

The Company

Most of these companies that are being runned are small and not well known. even though these small companies are not very well known, most of them have ties with other major companies and this is how they are usually operate there businesses and make profit. Most of the merchandies being made are sold at low prices as well which make these companies bigger and more rich little by little. Their main goal is to make products cheap and to make a big profit out of it.

The Employees

The kind of people that work in these sweatshops are immigrants in need of money. Most of these either come from a poor family or it could be that their economy is in need of money and does not have any money to help it out and the people as well. The typical sweatshop worker is a women, immigrant and even a child. Its bad enough that the employees of these shops treat their adult workers very badly, now they have also treat little minors the same way they treat the adult, low pay, long work hours and dangerous work conditions.
